Uganda’s Ashley Sheila from Kansanga-Kibuli has been crowned Miss Uganda-UAE 2023/24 at a convention that was organized in Dubai. Sheila emerged the winner out of a total number of eight contestants who battled it out for the crown of Miss Uganda-UAE 2024, earning herself a plot of land from B-Clara Real Estate Developers, one of the official sponsors of the pageant.

The eight contestants from five Emirates of the UAE out of seven, wooed judges with attires designed in the colors of the Ugandan flag, reminding the audience of their homeland. The audience gathered at Hyatt Regency Hotel Deira-Dubai on November 26, 2023, were evidently awestruck by the performance put up by the diverse array of contestants.

Ashley Tours and Travel, B-Clara Property Agents and Fud chef were the main sponsors of the 2024 Beauty pageant.

The judges’ panel crowned Sheila as winner, Agnes Nakayi as First Runner up who was also the public favorite, while Sharon Nakabugo emerged as 2nd Runner up.

The Pageant was presided over by Ambassador Zaake Kibedi, Uganda’s envoy to the United Arab Emirates as the Chief Guest and closed by Amb. Henry Mayega, the Consul General of Uganda to Dubai.

Amb Kibedi during his opening remarks, welcomed dignitaries in attendance and assured them of the willingness of the mission to always be at the disposal of Ugandans in the UAE.

“We at the embassy shall be at your disposal. You can walk in and out to get services at any time, and NIRA cards can be obtained at the embassy while passports will take five working days to process,” Kibedi said.

Amb Mayega in his closing remarks appreciated the organizers, judges, presenters and the AUU for the local cultural dances they exhibited in the foreign country, which he said market the Ugandan culture.

“I appreciate the AUU for organizing cultural dances in a foreign country. We have learnt some lessons in the convention and next time, we will perform better,” Mayega noted.

The Miss Uganda-UAE beauty Pageant summed up the Uganda-UAE convention that was organized by Ugandans living in the UAE to foster bilateral relations with UAE.
