Police in Kenya have arrested eight suspected drug traffickers in a coordinated security operation that was conducted by the National Police Service (NPS) in Kenya at a homestead in Elementaita village in Nakuru County.
These arrests and raids happened on February 14, 2025, in Elementaita village in Gilgil Sub-County in Kenya after the National Police Service (NPS) received a tip-off from the locals about a homestead in the area that was a store for illicit drugs.
Resila Athieno Onyango, the NPS spokesperson told the media that the police were informed about suspicious activities at a homestead that allegedly served as a storage facility for illegal drugs, and after an extensive investigation and raid by the law enforcement officers, a substantial quantity of illicit drugs was seized.

A total of 497 kilograms of suspected cannabis was found packed into twenty-one sacks within the premises, and 8 suspects were apprehended inside the homestead.
‘’The identities of the suspects are still withheld for investigation purposes; however, currently they are in police custody pending further processing and arraignment before court,’’ Athieno said.
Athieno thanked the locals for providing information that led to the recovery of the illicit drugs and arrest of the suspects.
However, the police asked the locals to continue working together with police in the fight against drugs in the country.
They revealed that investigations are underway, and it might lead to the arrest of other suspects because there is a likelihood that the arrested were not working alone.
Major coordinated operations by the anti-drug detectives continue around the country, aimed at combating drug use and trafficking.
The operation comes days after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended two suspects in the coastal region of Boa, Kombani area, who were found to have stored 12 sacks of marijuana at the homestead in the Kombani area, Kwale County, in Kenya.
As investigations into this case continue with potential implications for further arrests, it is clear that collaborative efforts are crucial for effectively combating drug trafficking across Kenya. The recent successes serve as a model for future operations aimed at reducing illicit substance circulation nationwide.
