Kenya Pledges Continued Cooperation with Uganda for Political, Economic and Socio-Cultural Benefits

The Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, has pledged continued cooperation with Uganda for political, economic, and social cultural benefits.

While speaking at the official closure of the 2nd session of the Kenya-Uganda Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) for Cooperation on May 14, 2024, at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, Mudavadi commended the government of Uganda for hosting the JMC, which he said remains a vital and pragmatic mechanism for broadening bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries.

In his remarks, Mudavadi gave a brief history of the relations between the two countries and highlighted how these relations have been beneficial to both nations.

“Over the years, Uganda and Kenya have continued to enjoy warm and cordial relations. Kenya considers the JMC to be a testament to our continued commitment to consolidate and strengthen these relations. I am confident that our deliberations during this JMC will further anchor our existing relationships. espoused by a rich historical background, Kenya and Uganda have demonstrated remarkable social and economic interlinkages that have yielded rapid transformation in our economies. The profound friendship between our two countries is the cornerstone of the shared socio-economic endeavors that will propel our national development programs and the African Union Agenda 2063 to realize the aspirations of our people,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi emphasized Kenya’s commitment to continue working with Uganda in all aspects for the betterment of the people of the two neighboring nations.

The three-day meeting, which started on Sunday, May 12–14, 2024, was attended by key government officials from Kenya and Uganda and was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Gen Haji Abubaker Jeje Odong.
