The Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club has appointed Sergio Tragul, a Portuguese national, as the new manager on a two-year contract.
Anisha Shahir Muhoozi, the KCCA FC CEO, said in a statement on Monday that they will benefit a lot from Sergio’s extensive expertise, high standards of excellence, and character.
She said the new coach is expected to take charge effective July 1, 2023.
“He is a successful coach who has worked at the highest level in a number of leagues on the continent, but most importantly, he conforms to the club’s DNA of playing beautiful football and youth development,” she said.
According to Shahir, the new manager will be replacing Jackson Mayanja, who has been an interim coach since April 19, 2023, until the end of the Uganda Premier League 22/23 season.
Traguil started his coaching career as the coach in charge of the Benefica youth team before joining Kaduna United in Nigeria.
He has also previously coached Hearts of Oaks in Ghana, CD Lunda Sul in Angola, Mirbat FC in Oman, Singida Big Stars in Tanzania, and most recently Township Rollers FC in Botswana. He is well known for having no defeats from 2020 to 2022 in league matches.
