The High Court sitting in Kampala has rejected the bail application filed by the widow, Molly Katanga.

While presiding over the bail application hearing on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the High Court Judge, Justice Isaac Muwata, denied bail to Katanga’s widow and asked her to prepare for the trial set for July 2, 2024.

Justice Muwata said that the convict’s age and medical condition do not exempt her from jail, as prison medical facilities can accommodate her needs.

During the trial, the judge deemed it necessary for the widow to prepare for the legal proceedings in the interest of justice.

Molly Katanga, the prime suspect in the murder of her husband, the late Henry Katanga, a renowned city businessman, had applied for bail from the High Court in February 2024.

Through her lawyer, Jet Tumwebaze, Molly Katanga had cited her deteriorating health as a reason for the bail.

The convict and her two children, Martha and Patricia Nkwanzi, as well as George Amanyire (a shumberboy) and Charles Otai (a male nurse), are battling charges related to the murder of businessman Katanga in November 2023.

Martha, Nkwanzi, Amanyire, and Otai were granted bail recently after spending weeks in prison.

The late Katanga was shot dead in his marital bedroom in Mbuya, Nakawa division, Kampala, on November 2, 2023.
