KAPCHORWA ROAD ACCIDENT CLAIMS THREE LIVES, INJURES TEN OTHERS

A tragic road accident in Kapchorwa district early Tuesday morning has resulted in the loss of three lives and left ten others injured.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 3:00 AM on September 3, 2024, in Chekatawit village along the Kapchorwa-Mbale highway.

Fred Mark Chesang, spokesperson for the Sipi Regional Police, reported that the accident involved a taxi transporting passengers from Kapchorwa to Kampala. According to initial investigations, the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and subsequently overturned.

Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Elvis Sekuku (32), Beatrice Kisange (22), and Augustine Cheptoris (29).

Chesang confirmed that the ten injured passengers were taken to Kapchorwa General Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to Kapchorwa Police Station as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Authorities urge caution on the roads, especially during early morning hours, as investigations into this tragic incident unfold.
