A 30-year-old male student from Makerere University of South Sudanese origin has been found dead in a rental house in Kampala district.

The deceased’s body was discovered by one of his relatives on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Bulange village, Rubaga sub-county, in a flat apartment where he was renting, who alerted the Defense Secretary of Bulange village.

The deceased was identified as Lameck, a student at Makerere University.

Initial reports show that he was last seen by the locals late in the evening heading to his rental apartment.

In an interview with journalists on October 13, 2024, the defense secretary of Bulange village, Vincent Mawejje, confirmed the incident and revealed that investigations are underway.

Mawejje added that the authorities are uncertain about Lameck’s death because he was found with a bedsheet wrapped around his neck, which shows that he might have committed suicide or somebody strangled him and then wrapped the bedsheet around his neck to kill evidence.

’’Lameck was a very humble guy, so we are still shocked as to what led to his death or who could have killed him because his death cause is still uncertain,’’ he said.
