Kampala Set for Kadodi Karnival 3rd Edition

The Bamasaba culture and tradition from the roots of Masaba land in the Bugisu sub-region are set for its annual clebration, dubbed Kadodi Karnival 3rd Edition, which is slated for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) show grounds at Lugogo in Kampala city.

The cultural celebration will see Ugandan musician Cindy real Cinderella Sanyu of former Blu 3 with a line-up of talented artists like Titus Vybes, Iddi Masaba, Papa Lova, and Suzan Wetsetse, among others.

The lovers of this cultural event will part with UGX 15,000 for early birds and UGX 20,000 at the gate.

Kadodi is one of the most celebrated rhythmic dances, with roots in the eastern Ugandan district of Mbale. It is usually danced during the Imbalu (circumcision) festival.

The Gisu people, or Bamasaba people of Elgon, are a Bantu tribe and Bantu-speaking ethnic group of the Masaba people in eastern Uganda, closely related to the Bukusu people of Kenya.

Bamasaba live mainly in the Mbale District of Uganda, on the slopes of Mount Elgon. The Bagisu are estimated to be about 1,646,904 people, making up 4.9% of the total population, according to the 2014 National Census of Uganda.
