The territorial police in Kampala Metropolitan have netted over 50 suspected criminals and narcotics recovered during security operations conducted in the city center and surrounding areas.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, during a weekly security briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru on Monday, November 10, 2025, said that more than 47 suspects were arrested over the weekend in Kampala and Wakiso and several exhibits including marijuana, cocaine were obtained during the operation. He attributed the robberies to increased use of drugs.

“The cocaine was parked in porches and it looks like posho and each pack was sold at Ugx 12,000,” he said.

According to Owoyesigyire, the operations were conducted in areas of Kito in Kira where 20 suspects were arrested, 21 in Kakiri, Kikubampanga, and six from Mukono black spots in areas of Kisoga, Ntenjeru, among others.

Owoyesigyire added that operations were also conducted around Entebbe in the areas of Nkungurutare, Munkasira, among others and six suspects were arrested while narcotic drugs recovered. However, the suspects were not named.

In response to these, authorities have sent an awakening call to citizens to ensure vigilance and courage to seize criminals.

“We continue to do community engagement that enhance vigilance,” Owoyesigyire noted.
