Machete-wielding thugs have attacked Kabaka’s deputy gombolola chief of Kassanda district, leaving him severely injured.

This incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday morning, October 13, 2024, in Luswa village, Myanzi sub-county in Kassanda district. The victim has been identified as Salongo Eric Sonko.

Sonko is Kabaka’s deputy Gombolola Chief of Mutuba Musanvu Myanzi and a resident of Luswa village in Kassanda district.

In an interview with journalists, Kassim Tayib Kawuki, the Kabaka’s Gombolola Chief of Mutuba, Musanvu Myanzi, revealed that Sonko was attacked, severely hacked, and robbed of millions of money at his home.

Kawuki added that Sonko’s assailants might have been after his life because of the severe injuries sustained on his head, neck, and hands, which left him barely alive.

“I hope Sonko gains consciousness and tells us who did this to him because he might have seen who attacked him,” Kawuki said.

Sonko is in intensive care at Mityana General Hospital due to the much blood lost.

On July 7, 2024, the Mayor of Mityana Municipality, Faustino Lukongwe, was attacked at his home by masked assailants armed with machetes who demanded money and fled with over UGX 900,000 and a mobile phone. This incident highlights the vulnerability of local leaders amidst rising violence in the region.
