Kabaka Maintains Peter Mayiga as Katikiro of Buganda after Cabinet Reshuffle

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, the King of Buganda has maintained Charles Peter Mayiga as the Katikiro (Prime minister) of Buganda Kingdom and appointed three ministers in different positions to serve the Kingdom.

According to the document released by Buganda Kingdom on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Cotilda Kikomeko who has been serving as the Chairperson of Buganda Kingdom Education Committee has been appointed as the Minister of Social Services, Anthony Wamala, as the Principle for Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education-Mengo, and Robert Sserwanga as the Minister for Information mobilization, Youth and Sports.

The document also indicated that Israel Kazibwe has been appointed as the new Kingdom Spokesperson, replacing Noah Kiyimba who has been serving as Minister for cabinets and Lukiiko Affairs.

David Oweek Mpanga has also been appointed as Lands Minister and Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa as Deputy Katikiro of Buganda.

This comes at a time after allegations of the resignation of a cabinet minister over accountability related issues. However the reshuffles in cabinet has come a day after Kabaka’s 30th coronation Anniversary celebrations that were held on Monday, July 31, 2023 in Lubiri-Mengo.
