Police in Jinja City are investigating circumstances under which a 15-year-old student at Jinja College was allegedly attacked and brutally beaten by colleagues for reporting sodomy incident to the school authority.

It is said the student, whose particulars have been withheld by the police, was severely beaten on June 14, 2023, by a section of fellow students who had accused him of alerting the school authority about a sodomy incident that had caused the suspension of another student.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, while addressing the Monday media briefing held at Naguru police headquarters, said the student was gagged with a piece of cloth and tied by fellow students who also inserted a stick into his anus.

“The victim fell unconscious, and when he regained consciousness, they rushed him to Nile International Hospital, where the stick was removed from his anal area,” said Enanga.

According to Enanga, the victim had earlier alerted the school administration that there were some students involved in acts of sodomy within the school premises, which led to the suspension of about four students.

“The victim started getting threats from the colleagues of those who were suspended, and that is what led to the attack as revenge for having reported the act of sodomy,” Enanga added.

The police have condemned the growing vice and confirmed ongoing investigations into the matter.
