Police in Jinja district have arrested a father and a well-known traditional healer in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a 13-year-old Hassan Nabikamba.
The suspects (whose names remain withheld) are being detained at Jinja police station after authorities found black pair of trousers belonging to the deceased Nabikamba in the father’s home in Namusiisi village in Iganga town.
Nabikamba, a student at Jinja Twins Nursery and Primary School, was last seen by his aunt and other witnesses heading to school in the morning before he vanished without a trace
After an alert from his worried mother, the police at Budondo Police Station prompted a search party consisting of villagers and well-wishers which was unsuccessful.
The Busoga East police spokesperson , James Mubi told journalists on April 21, 2025 that after receiving reliable information, initial attempts to question the child’s father were frustrated when authorities realized he had fled.
“The father had also disappeared, which was a red alert to us,” Mubi stated.
However, the police did not cease investigations before they found the child’s father who had hidden himself in the neighborhood.
Mubi said that after interrogation, police found out that the deceased’s father, traditional healer in company of several others had plans to fortify themselves and become powerful beings through ritual sacrifice.
The two remain in custody as the police continue the search for the missing boy.
