Ivory Coast to Battle Nigeria in the AFCON Finals

The host of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ivory Coast, is set to battle Nigeria in the final after their 1-0 victory over DR Congo.

During the match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Sebastien Haller scored the goal of the game that secured the team a place in the last game of the tournament.

Ivory Coast last won a tournament of this caliber in 2015, and since then, it is the first time it has reached the final of the AFCON.

On the other hand, Nigeria secured a spot in the final with a 4-2 penalty shootout win against South Africa.

Nigeria has played for the AFCON on twenty occasions, qualified for the finals eight times, and has won the trophy three times; the first time was in 1980, and the second was in 1994, held in Tunisia. Nigeria won its third African title in 2013, held in South Africa.

According to the organizers of the AFCON tournament, the final will take place this Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
