Government through Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has pledged its commitment towards the vision of transforming the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT).

This was during the handover ceremony of the 5th outgoing Governing Council of the UICT, to the 6th incoming Council held on Friday, June 30, 2023.

The Acting Executive Director of UCC, Eng Irene Kagwa, called upon the incoming Governing Council, Management and Staff of UICT as well as other stakeholders to join hands with government and work towards the realization of its vision.

“We are hopeful that through such strong and strategic partnerships, and collaborations, the UICT vision: “To be a World-Class Centre of Excellence in ICT Skills-Based Training, Research and Innovation” will be realized. Supported and nurtured, UICT will in turn be able to support the growth of the ICT sector competencies, and gradually narrow the ICT skills gap in the country and the region through training, research, and innovation,” Kagwa said.

Eng. Kagwa assured members present that UCC is proud to play an important role in this agenda by providing policy guidance and funding to support the Institute in its vision of upgrading to a world class Centre of Excellence.
