Three officers from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) have been acquitted of corruption charges by the Inspector General of Government (IGG).

Geoffrey Sseremba, the Accounting Officer, Deogratius Masagazi, the Under Secretary/Head of Department, Pacification and Development Programme, Tracy Atuhirwe, an accountant, together with Minister Mary Gorreti Kitutu Kimono, have been facing trial for causing a financial loss of over Ugx 1.5 billion meant for peacekeeping activities in the Karamoja sub-region.

It is alleged that between February and June 2022, while performing her duties as Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Kitutu failed to conduct various peace-building activities in the region, having reason to believe that her omission would cause financial loss.

On April 6, 2023, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) sanctioned charges of corruption and conspiracy to commit a felony against Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu Kimono, for allegedly diverting iron sheets meant for the Karamoja Community Empowerment Programme.
