Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the Kira Municipality Member of Parliament on the Forum of Democratic Change (FDC) party ticket, has said that he will be quitting the party in May 2025 because he cannot be part of an organization that is always fighting.

Ssemujju said that FDC was taken over by Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary General of the party, and Engineer Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the FDC party president, which is why the party is always at loggerheads.

He made these remarks on April 17, 2024, while appearing on one of the local television stations to discuss Dr. Kizza Besigye’s return to active politics.

“I am in FDC until May next year. I cannot be part of that organization. I cannot be part of the quarreling anymore,” Ssemujju said.

Ssemujju noted that Besigye never left, so there is no return if he has always been around on platforms like the Red Card Front.

Ssemujju added that countries and their systems do not work on the good will of an individual, and that is why they are fighting Museveni, because according to Ssemujju, he has broken the law. He further stated that power does not change a person; it reveals who they are.

“The people who were in the bush with Museveni didn’t know he would be the Museveni of today,” Semujju said.

However, Emmanuel Dombo, the communications officer of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), said that he sympathizes with FDC colleagues, as their problems are self-inflicted and lack understanding of how political organizations work.

“If they can’t run a small organisation like FDC, they cannot run a country. The Besigye’s were with Museveni in the bush but learned nothing from him about how to run their party. On the sides, they claim to be fighting Museveni, yet they benefit from Museveni,” Dombo said.

This follows Besigye’s announcement of returning to active politics, where he has said he will remove President Museveni before the 2026 general elections.
