High Court Convicts Six over Murder in Kampala

The High Court Criminal Division in Kampala has convicted six over the murder of Maria Nagirinya, a former worker of the Community Integrated Development Initiative (CIDI), an NGO based in Muyenga.

Nagirinya was kidnapped and murdered on August 28th, 2029.

The court, presided over by Justice Isaac Muwata, convicted Kasolo Coporiyamu alias Arsenal, Lubega Johnson alias Etoo alias Manomano alias Rasta, Kalyango Nasif alias Muwonge, Kiseka Hassan alias Masadda and Mpanga Sharif alias Shafiq.

They were convicted of six counts of kidnapping with intent to murder, aggravated robbery, and murdering Nagirinya and Kitayimbwa Ronald. The same court acquitted Katerega Sadat, alias Baros.

The case was prosecuted by Jonathan Muwanganya, Chief State Attorney, and Timothy Amerit, Senior State Attorney, in the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Prosecution proved that that on August 28, 2019, Nagirinya and her driver were kidnapped from Lungujja Nabisasiro zone in Lubaga division, killed and their bodies were dumped in Nakitutuli village in Mukono district.

Court also established the group used used violence to rob Nagirinya of her motor vehicle, mobile phone, and cash amounting to Shs260,000 and also proceeded to rob Kitayimbwa of his mobile phone and his money amounting to Shs24,000.
