Police have launched a manhunt for the head teacher of Grace Day Care Orphanage Primary School in Nagalama Town Council, Mukono municipality, over the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old pupil.

The suspect is identified as Jolly Joe Otim, and it is alleged that he engaged the minor in repeated sexual acts during the second term holiday in August 2023.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said the culprit invited the victim to his house during the holidays and sexually assaulted her.

“It was established that during holidays, the suspect sent for the victim to come to his home. When the victim entered the room, the suspect closed the door, forcefully undressed the victim, and sexually assaulted her. In the month of September, he gave the victim Ugx 5,000 to go for a medical checkup, and she was found to be pregnant,” said Enanga.

Enanga said that on September 30, 2023, the suspect gave the victim Ugx60,000 to carry out an abortion, but the medical workers objected and alerted the school director and the victim’s mother.

The suspect later varnished after learning about his impending arrest by police.
