Residents of Butenga Sub County in Bukomansimbi district have called upon police to investigate circumstances under which a 16-year-old girl was gruesomely stabbed as she was heading to the outside bathroom to shower.

This incident happened in Kiwenjula Kawoko village in Butenga Sub County, Bukomansimbi district, when unidentified thugs stabbed and killed a 16-year-old girl.

The deceased has been identified as Immaculate Nanziri, aged 16 years, a senior two student at St. Joseph’s Secondary School Butenga, who was living with her grandmother Cotilda Namuddu.

According to Namuddu, Nanziri had gone to shower in the outside bathroom when the thugs attacked her; however, she was able to run away from them after being stabbed.

Namuddu further alleged that when she heard her granddaughter screaming for help, she ran to the compound to help her and found her body with deep, severe stab wounds.

’’When I found Nanziri in the compound, I took her inside the house, dressed her up, and went outside to look for help, and fortunately I saw one of the locals called Kiwanda, whom I asked for help to take her to the hospital; however, when we entered the house, we found her dead,’’ Namuddu disclosed.

According to the locals, they believe that the deceased might have been attacked from her grandmother’s house and stabbed from there because there was no blood in the outside bathroom and also in the compound.

One local, Bosco Kawalya, said police should look into this murder thoroughly because it could be a cover-up of an inside job.

’’We suspect that Nanziri’s grandmother Namuddu knows something about her death because it is very weird that there was no blood in the compound where the deceased first stopped when she came running from the bathroom, and also there was no blood in the outside bathroom,’’ Kawalya revealed.

Locals also added that Nanziri’s bathing items, like the sponge, basin, and towel, were found in the sitting room unused.

This incident follows another stabbing incident that happened in August 2024 when Atanansi Mayanja, a 38-year-old man from Kalunduka village, was arrested for hacking his lover, Faridah Babirye Namutebi, and her 14-year-old daughter, Mary Gorreth Nassuna.
