Odugi Randa, while conducting the significant ritual, said this was meant to recognize President Museveni’s distinctive contribution in championing the unification of East Africa and a peace icon.

The event was also witnessed by key luo elders, including Governors James Orengo (Siaya County), Prof. Anyan’g Nyongo’ (Kisumu), Oburu Odinga, the Senator of Siaya County, OPiyo Wandayi, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy, and Gladys Wanga, the Governor of Homabay, among other key elders.

President Museveni was crowned alongside his Kenyan counterpart, President Williams Ruto, who was recognized for embracing peace to prevail in Kenya by accepting to work with the former Kenyan Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga, a respected Luo elder.

To luo elders, President Museveni is the reason why President Ruto and Raila Odinga have reconciled and currently working together in the Kenyan government.

Hosted under the theme of Spirit of the Luo Nation: Luo Unity in Diversity and in the Luo Diaspora, the event was hosted by Governor James Orengo of Siaya County, and it attracted a huge representation from Ugandan Luo communities, including Acholi, Padhola, and clan chiefs from Lango, Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Sudan, and DRC.

President Museveni, while closing the event, appealed to Kenyans and Luo communities to engage in wealth creation as the only way to make money.

“I cannot leave Kenya without talking about wealth building. Most people don’t know where wealth comes from. Wealth can only come from business, hand skills, services (including hotels), and ICT,” President Museveni told hundreds of Kenyans who had turned up to attend the ceremony.

President Museveni said the four sectors can bring a lot of finances and urged youths not only to engage in sports but also to actively participate in other activities that can bring money.

“All four sectors need a market, but the East African market is not enough. Apart from being the president, I have many dairy cows that give me milk,” he added.
