Grade One Magistrate Caught Sitting LDC Exam on Behalf of Girlfriend Dismissed

The Judicial Service Commission has dismissed Ammaari Musa Ssemwogerere, a newly recruited Grade One magistrate, after he was caught sitting the LDC examination on behalf of the girl friend.

This comes after Ssemwogerere was remanded to Lira Central Government Prison and charged with two counts, including uttering a false document contrary to Section 351 of the Penal Code Act and impersonation contrary to Section 381 of the Penal Code Act.

The Judiciary confirmed the development in a letter dated July 28, 2023.

“We would like to inform the general public that Mr. Ssemwogerere Ammaari Musa, one of the newly recruited magistrates in Grade 1, will not be employed in the Judiciary Service anymore,” said the Judiciary.

According to a statement released by the Law Development Centre (LDC), on July 26, 2023, he fraudulently sat an exam for a bar course student named Mutayi Irene at an LDC centre in Lira under the name of Mukisa Anthony.

“We brought this matter to the attention of the Judicial Service Commission, the Judiciary, and the Police, where he has been charged with two counts of forgery and one count of impersonation and remanded to prison till August 3, 2023. We will ensure that this case is prosecuted fully to its conclusion, including all other culpable persons, the letter read.

LDC is currently conducting final written examinations across all three campuses in Kampala. Lira and Mbarara

Ssemwogerere was appointed a Judicial Officer on June 12, 2023, by the Judicial Service Commission alongside 86 other persons to the position of Magistrate Grade 1, on probation.
