Gov’t Warns MPs against Disruption of Key Parliamentary Session

Baryomunsi pledges that the government will continue educating the public, even when Parliament has concluded the debate, so that Ugandans out there can appreciate, contrary to the lies and falsehoods that have been spewed out the last few days.

The government has issued a strong warning to Members of Parliament (MPs) who may attempt to disrupt the parliamentary session scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

The session is set to debate and vote on several bills related to government rationalization, including the controversial proposal to merge the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) with the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, made the announcement at a press conference held at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on November 5, 2024.

“The government, which has been promoting the coffee sub-sector, cannot be the one at this time to come up with proposals to kill the coffee sub-sector. That cannot be,” he said.

He emphasized that any actions taken to disrupt the parliamentary proceedings will not be tolerated and will have consequences.
