President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged to establish a second Presidential Skilling Hub in the Bunyoro sub-region, as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) registered fresh political momentum during his campaign stop in Kagadi District.

Addressing a rally at Muhorro, President Museveni said the new skilling hub would bring vocational training closer to the people of Kagadi and surrounding areas, equipping young Ugandans with practical skills for employment and wealth creation.

He also committed government to the rehabilitation of the Ndaiga–Kagadi road to improve connectivity and support local economic activity.

The rally was marked by notable political realignments. Speaker of Parliament and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, announced that Mr. Brian Asingwire, a senior National Unity Platform (NUP) figure in Buyaga East who had served the party for six years, had withdrawn from the opposition and joined the NRM.

She said the decision reflected growing confidence in NRM’s leadership and its development track record in Kagadi and the wider Bunyoro region.

President Museveni told residents that NRM’s ideology is rooted in unity, peace, and development, rejecting politics based on sectarianism.

He noted that before colonialism, African communities thrived on skills and productivity, values the NRM has revived through peace, strong institutions, and economic empowerment.

The President highlighted achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and wealth-creation programs, particularly commercial agriculture.

He emphasized the need to work for both the stomach and the wallet, citing industrial growth such as Mbale Industrial Park, which employs over 44,000 Ugandans.

Museveni also expressed concern over delays in the disbursement of coffee funds and assured farmers that the issue would be urgently addressed.

Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja told the rally that Kagadi leaders were now fully united behind President Museveni and pledged massive electoral support.

She urged NRM supporters to intensify grassroots mobilization through door-to-door campaigns ahead of the 2026 elections and conveyed greetings from Kenyan President William Ruto, who wished Museveni a landslide victory.

Among further commended the President for safeguarding freedom of worship, investing in oil roads, supporting tea growers with UGX 360 billion, constructing Hoima City Stadium, and establishing a public university in Bunyoro.

She also announced that Mr. David Muhumuza, an independent contestant for Mwenge North Constituency, had stepped down in favour of the NRM flag bearer.

The rally underscored NRM’s growing influence in Kagadi, marked by cross-party defections and renewed unity among local leaders.
