This was announced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while presiding over the Ankole leaders meeting on Wednesday, 26th February 2025, at Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality Grounds.

According to President Museveni, leaders should engage in massive mobilization of locals to embrace government programs, which can largely boost wealth creation.

“Therefore, I urge the leaders to support all these government wealth-creation initiatives and ensure that PDM money is used well. We plan to add more money, from Shs100m to something bigger, since parishes are not the same size,” President Museveni said.

Museveni emphasized that through PDM, many households will be able to achieve a reliable source of livelihoods.

“If the money we put in PDM were to be put in making roads, etc., we would have many good roads and a lot of development, but we would not have wealth for the people. We would have development and not wealth, yet it is wealth and skills that will give our people jobs,” Museveni emphasized.

After the leaders meeting, President Museveni also paid tribute to the late Canon Keroi Bashaasha, the wife of Mr. Yorokamu Bashaasha, his longtime friend and acolyte.

“I thank the Lord for giving Mzee Bashaasha and me the gift of life; we have been together for the last 64 years. I remember him joining school in 1960, a year after I had joined in 1959. I thank him for his loyalty and steadfastness over the years. I extend my condolences to the entire Bashaasha family and thank the Lord for standing with them in mourning their beloved mother. May God give them strength and comfort during this time. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” Museveni said.
