The government is yet to respond to the latest demand by the opposition legislators regarding their missing supporters in a latest attempt to resolve current Parliamentary boycott by the group.

On Thursday, October 26th, while addressing the media at parliament, the Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, said they were not ready to return to the house until the government presented a detailed statement regarding their missing supporters.

Mpuuga said his office was informed on Wednesday by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa that the documents he requested concerning the missing supporters have been forwarded to various government units for further investigation.

The leader of the opposition added that he will update the families of the victims and the country at large on what will be agreed upon concerning the controversial abduction of opposition supporters.

“We need an equivocal response because where is the justice for the families whose people were arrested by the security operatives?” asked Mpuuga.

On October 19, 2023, opposition MPs stormed out of Parliament after rejecting a government report regarding the missing supporters that was presented by the Internal Affairs Minister, Gen. David Muhoozi.

The government disclosed that they had nothing to say about the grievances they tabled in Parliament.
