The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has rallied voters in Alebtong and Otuke districts to support him and the ruling party in the 2026 general elections, promising major investments in infrastructure, industrialization, agriculture, and social services in his next term.
Addressing thousands of supporters at Alebtong District Headquarters, Museveni urged residents to reject visionless opposition politicians and instead back the NRM to consolidate the gains made under its leadership.
“Naïve politicians cannot lead Uganda to prosperity. They will destroy the progress we have achieved under the NRM, including stability, development, wealth creation, and market access,” Museveni said.
He reminded the people of Lango of the conflict and hardship they endured before NRM took power.
Museveni outlined key infrastructure projects planned for the sub-region, including the Lira–Aloi–Abim road, which will connect Lango to Karamoja, and the Soroti–Amuria–Achan Pi road to improve transport and trade. He said many of these projects will be financed using revenue from Uganda’s oil sector.
He also pledged to expand free universal primary education, strengthen healthcare services, and extend electricity access to more communities.
Museveni said government will continue addressing gaps in social services to improve the quality of life in the region.
As part of efforts to spur industrialization and employment, Museveni announced plans to establish a new industrial park at Karuma to serve Lango and surrounding regions. The park will host factories, attract investors, and create jobs closer to rural communities.
“Industrial parks will bring jobs closer to the people, while commercial agriculture will transform vast land into productive ventures,” Museveni said.
While campaigning in Otuke District, Museveni pledged to set up a coffee breeding and training centre at Barlegi State Lodge to promote modern coffee production.
The facility will offer training in coffee farming, fishing, and other commercial crops. Government will supply free seedlings and agricultural inputs to farmers to boost productivity.
Museveni also emphasized the importance of sustainable land use, saying some landowners misuse small plots by attempting large-scale projects. He said government will introduce commercial agriculture solutions and wetland fish farming to increase land productivity.
Museveni reiterated his plan to build a primary school in every parish and a secondary school in every sub-county that lacks one. He also promised a new socioeconomic empowerment fund for graduates to help them join the money economy.
He called on residents to embrace household-level wealth creation and to protect government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) by reporting corruption and misuse of funds.
Museveni concluded his rallies by urging voters in Alebtong and Otuke to vote for NRM candidates at all levels to protect Uganda’s progress and continue the journey toward a high middle-income economy.
“The NRM ended war and suffering here. Now we must consolidate peace with development and prosperity,” Museveni said.
President Museveni will campaign in Apac and Kwania districts on Friday.
