The government has directed all senior accounting officers to commence evaluation of the implementation of the parish development model (PDM) on its beneficiaries.

This directive aims to ensure that the initiative is achieving its goals of improving household incomes and welfare through its various pillars.

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Ben Kumumanya, during an interview at the local radio station on December 27, 2024, stated that the exercise is compulsory for accounting officers to assess the impact of the program on its beneficiaries.

In the latest PDM evaluation, President of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, began a three-day tour to assess the performance of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Bugisu and other subsequent sub-regions.

“So far, 200 million is already released per person. That money is out there in every part of Uganda. Another 100 million is already appropriated,” Kumumanya said.

This disbursement, he said, is a variable for this financial area requiring the clear audit and monitoring of the chief administrative officers and town clerks crucial for the PDM implementation process.

According to Kumumanya, as supervisors of human resources, these officers should net the culprits involved in PDM money fraud, like extortion practices.

The parish development model is a government program intended to increase household incomes and improve the quality of life of Ugandans by transitioning subsistence-level households into the money economy.

The President commenced his tour that runs from December 17th to Friday, December 20th, 2024, in Bududa district and proceeded to Manafwa and concluded with Sironko.

In the related development, President Museveni began his wealth creation mobilization tour in the Teso region, starting in Serere District. The tour focuses on boosting agricultural productivity and economic development.
