GISOs in Bugisu Tasked to Verify National IDs of PDM Beneficiaries

The Gombolola Internal Security Officers (GISO in the Bugisu sub region have been directed to ensure strict verification of the National Identification Card of all beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM.

Bududa Resident District Commissioner, Moses Barasa, made the directive while presiding over the launch of the training of GISOs on PDM data capture exercises during an event held at Manafwa District Offices on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

He said GISOs should maintain vigilance in verifying the identity cards of the PDM beneficiaries, highlighting that people have been using fake identity cards to access funds, and some have also used the cards of their relatives.

RDC Barasa said that with the digitization of the PDM processes, he is hopeful that this will be rectified if the right data is captured.

Barasa commended the Internal Security Organization implementing a digital system, which is crucial for enhancing accountability and implementation.
He highlighted the significance of the ZAIDI application developed by the Internal Security Organization.

In Bududa District, some individuals were accused of unlawfully charging beneficiaries to access PDM funds,and to counter this, RDC Barasa emphasized the need for rigorous oversight to prevent such misconduct.

He stressed the importance of sharing accurate information with local leaders, noting that while PDM is beneficial, it faces misuse at various levels.

“GISOs must take charge, supervise, monitor, and oversee government programs effectively, possess accurate information, and provide timely reports to inform state decisions.” Said Maj. Kambaho.

Kalifani Ssekindu, Deputy CAO of Manafwa district, confirmed their commitment to delivering the program.He asked the GISOs to approach their duties with patriotism and diligence.

The Internal Security Organization last week launched a countrywide exercise to capture the data of every PDM beneficiary.
