Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), has described Joseph Tamale Mirundi as a bold and fearless person who always fought for the truth.

Gen. Kainerugaba posted this on his official X handle on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, after the demise of Mirundi, saying, “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and brother Tamale Mirundi. We were friends and colleagues for over 20 years. He was a bold and fearless person who always fought for the truth. He added that Uganda has lost a patriot who was devoted to his nation. “May his soul rest in peace.”

Tamale Mirundi died on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 59. According to reports, he succumbed to lung-related complications at around 11:40 p.m. at Kisubi Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for over a month.

He was born in 1964 in Matale Kalagala village, Kalisizo Town Council, Kyotera district. Tamale was a journalist, author, political analyst, and presidential advisor on media matters until July 2015.
