The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has officially announced the coaching panel for the Uganda National Team set to compete in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

Initially the tournament was scheduled for February 2024, but was postponed to allow the three host nations additional time to finalize key infrastructural and facility upgrades necessary for a successful event.

This prestigious tournament is scheduled to be held from August 2nd to August 30th, 2025, across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, under the collaborative Pamoja East Africa hosting initiative.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement on their X official handle on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

According to the statement, the coaching panel has Fred Muhumuza and Morley Byekwaso. These two coaches will be directly responsible for managing the Uganda National Team during the CHAN 2024 competition.

“Their efforts and strategies will be closely supervised and monitored by the Uganda Cranes Head Coach, Paul Put, ensuring alignment with the broader national team objectives and standards,” reads part of the statement.

Coach Put’s involvement as a supervisor highlights FUFA’s commitment to maintaining a high level of technical guidance and continuity between the CHAN team and the senior Uganda Cranes squad.

FUFA has said that additional technical personnel, including assistant coaches, fitness trainers, and medical staff, will be named in the near future. These appointments will follow the official announcement of the final squad for the tournament.

The 2024 edition is unique as it will be co-hosted by three East African countries, showcasing regional cooperation and football development.
