The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has extended the registration deadline for football academies to 13th February, 2026, as part of its drive to professionalize and strengthen youth football development across the country.

The extension, announced on 26th January, 2026, comes under Statutory Instrument (SI) 24 of 2025, which governs sports regulations, including the licensing and operation of football

FUFA highlighted that the registration process has been simplified through the introduction of electronic forms, reducing the need for in-person visits to FUFA Headquarters and allowing academy operators to submit documents conveniently online.

According to FUFA, academies that successfully complete the inspection phase will be recommended to the National Council of Sports for official licensing, in line with Part IX, Regulation 29(2) of SI 24 of 2025.

Key dates for the registration and licensing process are as follows: the application deadline is February 13th, 2026; inspections of academies will take place on February 14th, 2026; and FUFA certificates are scheduled to be issued on March 13th, 2026.

To facilitate the process, FUFA has appointed a dedicated staff member, Reagan Muleekezi, to handle inquiries. Additionally interested academy operators can contact him for guidance and clarification.

“We want every football academy to have the opportunity to register easily and meet national standards. This extension and the online registration system will help academies raise their quality and support the growth of young talent across Uganda,’’ FUFA stated.

FUFA says the move is designed to encourage structured youth programs, improve talent development standards, and ensure compliance with national sports regulations.

The association continues to urge academy owners, coaches, and administrators to take advantage of the extended window and complete registration promptly.

This initiative reflects FUFA’s broader commitment to raising the standards of youth football in Uganda, aligning with its goal of nurturing talent systematically and professionally across the country.
