FUFA Confirms Death of 2nd Vice President Mugoye

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), which is the Ugandan football governing body has confirmed the death of its 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoye who passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Mengo Hospital in Kampala.

Mugoye, known for his dedicated service and invaluable contributions to FUFA, and the broader football landscape, also served the game under the reign of Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa.

Speaker Annet Anita Among said that, Mugoye was a very reliable, dependable, committed, and trustworthy friend whom the football fraternity shall dearly miss.

She noted that, he made tremendous contributions to the sports and education sectors, adding that, his untimely death leaves a huge gap.

FUFA has said that details regarding late Mugoye’s funeral arrangements will be disclosed soon.

This year, Mugoye was outstanding, as East Africa won the AFCON 2027 hosting bid, having been selected earlier on by the Federation on an eight-man committee to oversee the Pamoja bid.

Mugoye served as the proprietor of the lower Division side, St. Mary’s New Hope which competes in Lower Division, a team that is affiliated with St. Mary’s SS in Nabweru where he was the Director.
