The Federation of Uganda Basketball (FUBA) has announced an exciting plan to revamp the fan experience before the commencement of the 2023/24 playoffs.

Marcus Kwikiriza, the CEO of FUBA, confirmed the development while addressing the members of the press at FUBA headquarters at MTN Arena Lugogo.

He said the initiative follows a substantial partnership with Castle Lite, which injected over UGX 500 million into the league to revamp the entertainment aspect of basketball, widening its appeal.

“One of the biggest goals in basketball is to try and make the game fun. Back in the day, it was about fun and entertainment. We want to attract as many non-basketball fans as possible. We had lost that along the way,” Kwikiriza said.

Kwikiriza noted that the prime goal is to have basketball venues become vibrant hubs for socializing and entertainment, even for those who may not be passionate about the sport.

“Even if you don’t love basketball, this could potentially be a place for you to hang out with friends and have a good time,” he added.

Kwikiriza said that in the women’s division, Kampala University has been relegated as they registered no wins during the entire regular season. The men’s division will see Power and the Ndejje Angels relegated.
