Four Held for Kidnapping, Trafficking of 16-Year-Old Girl

Police in Pallisa district are holding four suspects in custody for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl for ransom and trafficking.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police Spokesperson said on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the suspects are scheduled to appear in court for kidnapping, ransom, and trafficking a 16-year-old female student.

“The facts gathered indicate that Vicky Harriet Aguti, a student of Pallisa Secondary School, left school on August 8, 2023, at 4 p.m. for home, but she was intercepted by a male student identified as Constant Okiria, aged 18,” SCP Enanga said.

He added that Okiria took Aguti to his sister’s place and had her confined there; the victim was forced to call her parents the next day, August 9, 2023, for a ransom or they would kill her. She called and instructed her mother to send money and save her life.

Enanga noted that the task team was able to track down the victim, rescue her, and arrest four suspects.

The suspects were identified as Pte. Andrew Justine Aguwa, a 29-year-old soldier attached to Ruhengeri; Emma Okanya, a 28-year-old; Constant Okiria, an 18-year-old student; and Anna Florence Imoit, a 26-year-old businesswoman of Kisenyi cell, Pallisa town council.
