Former Makindye West legislator Hussein Kyanjo passed away at Kibuli Hospital on Saturday morning.
Kyanjo, who served as an MP for two terms, from 2006 to 2011, and then from 2011 to 2016, had been battling cancer-related illnesses for a long period of time.
His relatives said that prior to his cancer diagnosis, the late Kyanjo had also been diagnosed with Dystonia, a disease that affected his speech centre and could hardly speak and had been using a speech aid to help him communicate.
Born in Ntuuma, Bukomansimbi District, in 1960 to Hajji Siliman Zirabamuzaale Jakana and Mariam Nabuuma, Kyanjo was also the founding member of JEEMA.
His condition began while he was in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2011, where he and other colleagues in the 9th Parliament had gone for a visit.
