Security operatives have embarked on an investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the fire, which gutted a warehouse belonging to the DAS handling agency that was being rented by the National Medical Stores at Entebbe Airport.
The fire that broke out at about 15:45 p.m. on September 12, 2023, in a store that was being used by the NMS to keep imported mosquito nets and blankets meant to be distributed to locals.
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, by Sheila Nduhukire, the National Medical Stores spokesperson said the cause of the fire has yet to be established.
She, however, maintained that, in spite of the fire incident, NMS will continue with the planned distribution of nets.
According to her, the mosquito nets were comprehensively insured to minimize any unexpected losses.
In a related development, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has expressed concern about how a section of media houses misrepresented the report about the fire incident, claiming it had occurred at the airport.
