The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Ramathan Ggoobi, has directed all accounting officers to ensure that they clear all salaries, wages, gratuities, and pensions by the 28th day of every month.
Ggoobi made these directives while addressing a press briefing on Friday, October 6, 2023, in Kampala.
“Prioritize the payment of service providers in time to avoid the accumulation of arrears,” said Ggoobi.
He urged the accounting officers to always display pay rolls for salaries and monthly pensions at government institutions on notice boards every month.
Ggoobi further said that institutions should ensure pre-payment of utilities, and if they fail to do this, service providers should turn off non-compliant votes.
“Accounting officers should also effectively supervise the implementation of government programmes and projects,” said Ggoobi.
This was during the presentation of the quarterly financial year 2023-2024 budget performance.
