The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party loyal to Nathan Nandala Mafabi has fried MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda as the party whip in Parliament.

Ssemujju has been replaced with MP Yusuf Nsibambi of Mawokota South County in Mpigi district, with immediate effect.

On Monday, August 7, 2023, Nandala informed the Speaker of Parliament, Anet Anita Among, regarding the replacement.

“In accordance with Section 6(1), the Party hereby appoints Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi as the Party Whip of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to replace Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda,” said Mafabi.

He also noted that the party withdraws Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda as party whip with immediate effect.

The letter was also copied to the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the party president, Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi, and Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda.

The FDC Party leadership is currently embroiled in a fight over what has been described as dirty money from the regime, a claim that has been trashed by the ruling NR party secretariat.

Trouble for the most outspoken FDC MP, Ssemujju, stemmed from his move to oppose Nandala’s faction regarding what he termed an illegal transaction with the ruling party.

Nganda accused Mafabi of secretly dealing with the regime, a claim that was also confirmed by the FDC founding president, Col. (RTD) Dr. Kizza Besigye, on Monday, August 7th, while addressing the media from his office along Katonga Road in Kampala.
