The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has warned President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni about a possible uprising due to electoral offenses and continued human rights violations.

This was contained in a message released on Monday, July 3, 2023, by the FDC party headquarters.

“Our frustration is building up, and soon you will witness the unfolding of a genuinely packed movie, and it won’t be a pleasant scene,” FDC warned.

The FDC party claimed that there have been repeated irregularities marring several elections, including those in Kisoro, Soroti City East, Kasese, and Serere districts.

“In Soroti City East, over 135 of our leaders, election supervisors, and Secretariat staff were arrested from their hotel rooms on the eve of the election, the FDC claims.

The announcement of a possible uprising stemmed from President Museveni’s directive to Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, the Head of State House Anti-Corruption Unit, to probe claims of criminality in the recently concluded Bukedea district chairperson by-election.

In his directive, President Museveni cited acts of violation in a letter dated June 26, 2023, adding that the claims must be investigated and action taken against the culprits.
