The Forum for Democratic Change-Katonga Faction hassuspended the party President-Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the Secretary General-Nathan Nandala Mafabi and Geoffrey Ekanya-the party Treasurer pending investigations.

This was during the Extraordinary Delegates Conference that was held at Katonga amidst heavy deployment from Police.

Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the Spokesperson of FDC, made the announcement to suspend the President, Secretary General and Treasurer, replacing them with their deputies on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Katonga FDC offices.

“We have suspended Amuriat as the Party President and replaced him with his Deputy, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Nandala Mafabi with Kaija Harold, while Geoffrey Ekanya with Francis Mwijukye and we have directed the National Executive Council (NEC) to set up an investigation into the suspended members,” Ssemujju said.

He added that, NEC is required to investigate the suspended officers and also prepare to challenge in court the October 6, 2023 Extraordinary Delegates Conference organized by the Najjanakumbi faction,” Ssemujju said.

Dr. Kizza Besigye noted that, they are determined to take back their party from the imposters at Najjanakumbi, and will not follow President Museveni’s road map of elections, but will draw their own means of redeeming the country from the current government.

“The imposters at Najjanakumbi have been removed, we have taken back our party and will not allow President’s Museveni’s road Map of 2026, but we will take the country from the Junta in our own way,” Besigye said

Besigye emphasized that, imposters worked with the junta and took over the party, denying them funding, but finally the conference was held.  Using the same methods the Junta uses to fail the conference, Besigye said that, they defied all odors and held the conference amidst heavy security.

The two factions have been having wrangles with each side accusing the other over who has the right to run the party.
