A man in Kampala has been arrested by the police following the gruesome murder of his two-year-old daughter.
Police Spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, has identified the suspect as Ibrahim Ssemaganda, a resident of Bulenga B cell, in Wakiso district.
He said that Ssemaganda allegedly hacked his daughter, Sharon Namaganda, to death on August 22, 2023, from their residential home.
“The suspect picked up the victim from his grandmother’s care, promising to return her that same day, but ended up killing her,” said Enanga.
According to the police, the suspect laid the body of his daughter on the bed and covered her with a bed sheet after hacking her to death.
Ssemaganda, who had been separated from the mother of the child, Catherine Nakati, for a year now, later handed himself over to the defense secretary of the area, who reported to police leading to his arrest.
The police have preferred murder charges against the suspect, who is currently in police custody at Buloba police station.
