The Archbishop Church of Uganda, Reverend Doctor Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has asked Members of Parliament and other men in Uganda to emulate Joseph the carpenter, who is also the father of Jesus calmness, and accept fatherhood by not conducting Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) tests on children whose parentage is in doubt, like was the case with Jesus.

Rev. Dr.Kaziimba made these remarks at the Parliament while conducting the Christmas Anglican Chaplaincy’s Christmas Carols and holy communion on December 20, 2023.

“In order to ensure peace and harmony in homes, don’t conduct DNA, just like Joseph did not think twice about raising Jesus,” said Kaziimba.

He added that Joseph should be an example to all men because he got a message that his wife was to be pregnant and accepted her and the unborn child.

“I want to encourage men, especially MPs. Sometimes you aren’t at home; something can happen and a child is born, so now let me encourage you to be like Joseph and don’t go for DNA. Keep calm and raise the child; that is how calm Joseph was,” Rev. Kaziimba remarked.

Kaziimba decried the limited number of virgins in Uganda, noting that, on several occasions, he has encouraged people to keep their virginity, but he has been labelled backward for encouraging it.

“It is not easy to find virgin ladies these days; actually, when you promote virginity, some people say that is backwardness,” Kaziimba added.

Rev. Dr.Kaziimba went ahead and asked women to pray for their men going astray, adding that prayer works.

“You pray for that man when he sleeps outside of marriage so he does not catch HIV/AIDS, and you make peace for yourself. You can’t handle everything; worry will kill you, so leave everything to God.,” Rev. Kaziimba said.

According to the Gospel books in the New Testament of the Bible, Mary, a virgin betrothed to Joseph, conceived Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, and therefore Christians consider Jesus the Son of God. However, most Christians understand Joseph to be a true father in every way except biological, since Joseph was the earthly father who raised Jesus.
