The Electoral Commission (EC) through the Office of the District Returning Officer of Oyam has on Monday, June 19, 2023, carried out a nomination exercise for all aspirants at the district EC offices.

According to EC, the candidates who appeared for nominations are identified as Eunice Otuko representing UPC, Freddy Okello Newton for FDC, Daniel for NUP and Samuel Okello for NRM.

EC has also declared Willy Omodo Kagere, Queen Dorothy Amolo and Ishas Otto Amiza on the independent ticket.

The Oyam North Constituency by-election will be held on July 6, 2023 around the 167 polling stations in Oyam North Constituency in Oyam district.

The by-election in Oyam follows the death of Rtd Col Samuel Okello Engola who was shod dead by one of his bodyguard in Kyanja, Kampala.
