Electoral Commission Releases a Roadmap for Dokolo By-election

The Electoral Commission has set a date for conducting a by-election to replace the late Dokolo District Woman MP, Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal.

The roadmap was released by the Electoral Commission Chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama, while addressing the media and other stakeholders on Monday, February 12, 2024, in Dokolo district.

He said that the commission will also fill vacant positions in the lower local councils within the district.

Accordingly, Justice Byabakama confirmed that all candidates for the position of Woman Member of Parliament will be nominated on March 11–12, 2024, and thereafter, the campaign will kick off on March 13–19, 2024.

“The polling date for the District Woman MP is slated for March 21, 2024, while the one for lower local councils and representatives of special groups is scheduled for March 18, 2024,” Justice Byabakama said.

Dr. Rosemary Alwoc, the daughter of the late MP Ogwal, is among the 14 women who have expressed interest in contesting the forthcoming by-election to replace the late MP Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal in the 11th Parliament.
