EC Meets Electoral Region Staff to Improve Electoral Management

The Electoral Commission (EC) met with field staff from the 19 districts of the Central-South and Central-North Electoral Regions on September 8, 2023, at Royal suites Bugolobi, to share experiences, good practices, and challenges for improved electoral management ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

The Chairperson Electoral Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi urged the staff to ensure that their work is conducted within the confines of the law.

“Similar meetings are concurrently happening in other electoral regions across the country,” Byabakama added.

According to Paul Bukenya, the Acting Public Relations Officer of EC, the meeting is meant to harmonize and improve internal operations ahead of the 2026 General Elections, adding that EC has met field staff from 16 districts that make up the Central-South Electoral Region.

Peter Emorut, the Commissioner of EC emphasized the need for staff to familiarize themselves with the Commission legal mandate for better election management.

The Central-North Region comprises the electoral districts of Kayunga, Nakasongola, Luwero, Kyankwanzi, Kiboga and Nakaseke while Central South Electoral Region includes the districts of Mubende, Kiboga, Mityana, Mpigi, Butambala, Gomba, Ssembabule, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu, Kalangala, Masaka, Masaka City, Kyotera, Rakai, Kasanda, and Lyantonde.
