Dr. SILVER MUGISHA REAPPOINTED AS NWSC MANAGING DIRECTOR

Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha, the Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Corperation

Eng. Dr Silver Mugisha has been re-appointed as the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Managing Director on a five-year term.
The re-appointment was announced by the NWSC Board of Directors.
Chairperson, Eng. Badru M. Kiggundu, while addressing the media at the
Corporation Head Office, Nakasero, on Tuesday, 16th, 2023.

“Because of the notable performance by the Managing Director and his
management team, the Board of Directors of National Water and Sewerage Corporation, acting in full compliance with Section 16 of the NWSC Act, has re-appointed Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha as the Managing Director of National
Water and Sewerage Corporation for the period 2023-2028,” Eng. Kiggundu announced.
Kiggundu revealed that under Mugisha’s leadership, the number of towns
under NWSC jurisdiction have increased from 23 to 268 and are expected
to increase to 350 by 2028.

Additionally, the number of people served by piped water in areas under the NWSC has increased from 4.5 million to 18 million and are projected to increase to 28 million by 2028.

The number of customer connections has also increased from 296,000 to 874,000 and are expected to increase to 1,250,000 by 2028.
“Pipe network length has increased from 5,073 km to 22,000 km and is planned to increase to 32,000 km by 2028; annual turnover has increased from UGX 155 billion to UGX 519 billion, and is projected to increase to UGX 700 billion by 2028,” Dr. Kiggundu said.

According to the board chair, NWSC assets have also increased from UGX 650 billion to UGX 4,100 billion and are planned to increase to UGX 6,600 billion by 2028.
The NWSC Board congratulated Mugisha upon his re-appointment and I wished him well during his new tenure of service.

Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha appreciated the board’s vote of confidence based on the management’s performance in the utility’s management
team.
“I assure our esteemed customers and all Ugandans at large that the next
5 years will be anchored on service acceleration in all corners of Uganda,
under our jurisdiction,” he said.
He added that his management adopted an aggressive expansion agenda to ensure water and sanitation for all.
