The Democratic Party (DP) has requested that the government of Uganda arrest Moses Ssimbwa, who confessed that the opposition lured him to stain the government for allegedly torturing some Ugandans.
According to Ismail Kirya, the President of the Young Democrats, Ssimbwa should be the first suspect to be arrested since he blackmailed the ruling government to get one million, which is criminal.
He made the remarks during a press conference held at the party offices at City House in Kampala on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
Kirya said that Ssimbwa should be arrested and provide information to the security agencies since he confessed that he knows those operating drones that are used to abduct Ugandans. He noted that Ssimbwa should also reveal the exact individuals in opposition involved in such crimes to be arrested according to Ugandan law.
“Ssimbwa confessed that he knew those operating the drones that abducted Ugandans. I think all security agencies should interest themselves in investigating the issue through Ssimbwa. But I am surprised that he was instead given a handshake,” Kirya said.
He added that Ssimbwa is a threat to the entire country because he can accept money from any person and be used in the same way to cause havoc in the country.
“Since Ssimbwa can lie because of one million, which means that he can do any other thing because of money, if Ssimbwa is given two million to kill someone, wouldn’t he do so? At the moment, police and other government security agencies would be investigating him,” he said.
Moses Ssimbwa, who was an accident victim and paraded as a state torture victim by the National Unity Platform (NUP) party during the International Human Rights conference in Nairobi, Kenya, apologised to President Yoweri K. Museveni of Uganda during the 38th National Resistance Movement Anniversary Celebrations held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St.Johns Secondary School Wakitaka in Jinja city in the Busoga region for defaming his government.
