Democratic Party has urged Ministry of Education to come up with proper guidelines on school break offs and ensure that both private and government schools observer it.

While addressing party members at the party offices on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Ismail Kiirya, the President of the Young Democratic Union said that, they received complaints from parents of some schools that their children no longer get time to rest because the schools give less time for holidays from the day they break off.

Kiirya said that, some schools have diverted from the official calendars of holidays and hence leaving the learners and the parents with a number of challenges.

“The crisis is always on the side of the students who do not get enough time to rest. We expect them to rest for a certain period of time, and the parents who are not given enough time to look for money for school fees,” Kiirya said.

He also noted that, sometimes the schools give less than two weeks from the time they break off and the time they are supposed to resume their studies hence causing a crisis.

The Democratic Party have called upon the Ministry of Education to respond with immediate effect.
