The Democratic Party (DP) will release the official electoral roadmap after holding a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on April 19, 2024, in Mbale city.

While speaking to the press on April 2, 2024, at City House party offices in Kampala, Ismail Kirya, the President of Uganda Young Democrats (UYD), who doubles as the DP Spokesperson, said that some people are masquerading as party officials and have commenced with registering party members illegally.

“Some members of NEC are trying to organize party members and are misleading them about the coming events and road map. Let’s wait for the road map that will be decided by NEC; whoever is registering members of DP in the villages is a fraud, and that activity has not been sanctioned by the party,” Kirya said.

He warned party members against engaging in activities of the party before the final road map is released by the NEC, saying that it is only the NEC that will determine the road map and decide the final dates and activities of the party.

On March 26, 2024, the DP Secretary General presented to the members of the public a draft road map, which he said was to be endorsed by the NEC, and after that, it could be effected. The draft road map that was presented included the proposed days of the NEC, the National Delegates Committee, the proposed fees for registering for DP president, and other key dates for different activities leading to the 2026 general elections.
